What is north riding?

North Riding is one of the nine provinces of South Africa located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bordered by the Limpopo province to the north, Gauteng province to the west, Mpumalanga province to the southwest, and KwaZulu-Natal province to the southeast. The capital city of North Riding is Polokwane.

North Riding is known for its abundant wildlife, with numerous game reserves and national parks located within its borders. These include the Kruger National Park, the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, and the Mapungubwe National Park. The province is also home to several important archaeological sites, such as the Makapansgat and Mapungubwe sites.

The economy of North Riding is largely agricultural, with crops such as maize, sorghum, and sunflowers being grown in the region. The mining industry is also important, with deposits of platinum, chrome, and vanadium being extracted from the province's soil. Tourism is another major sector of the economy, with visitors coming to explore the province's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
